There are so many to choose from and you don’t have to stand in a greeting card store laboring over which one is right. They range in price and the higher priced cards allow for the most customization but even for a couple dollars you can get an amazing card your partner will love.

I understand choosing them can become quite confusing, but for me it is a lot of fun! For those people who get nervous when choosing that special card, consider these few tips to help you get the perfect one.

1. Would you say what was in the anniversary card? If it sounds too sappy or just plain stupid, don’t get it! Your partner knows you and it should reflect your love for each other and the way you communicate.

2. Be gender appropriate – If your recipient likes masculine things don’t choose a pretty card with pink flowers. Conversely, if your recipient is male it does not mean you need to stay away from feminine cards…it all depends on their preference.

3. Don’t look at price! OK, so I have been guilty of putting down a great card because I thought it was too expensive, but I don’t do it anymore. That extra special saying or element goes a long way to touch the heart of the recipient. What’s a few extra bucks anyways? In the scheme of things, it means nothing if your partner is going to love it.

4. Don’t over think it! Don’t drive yourself so nuts trying to please your spouse that you lose sight of why you are doing it. Most times, I ended up going with the first card I picked up, so don’t stress over it.

If you stay focused on your love and the real reason you are getting the card (no, its not just because you have to!) you will get high praise for your selection.
